Carpentaria participants recently enjoyed taking part in the Friendship Art Program which aims to allow people with a disability to work alongside professional artists and explore a range of different art forms such as mosaics, sculpture, painting, wood and metal work. Presented by Somerville Community Services, the program provides opportunities to create meaningful relationships and build on creative and artistic skills in a small group session. Developing and improving social and communication skills is also a component of the program.

The artworks created will be displayed in public places throughout Darwin, Palmerston and Katherine, to raise awareness of the artistic skills and abilities of people with a disability.
